WIAW 05/03/2014 Bruno You Almost Killed Me

Well Wednesday is officially winding down.  I hope the fist half of the week has been enjoyable for everyone.  Mine has been busy and cold… so nothing really new there.  Since it is Wednesday and I have a phone full of food photos I may as well join in on the fun going on over at Peas and Crayons and contribute to WIAW.  This will be my second week of a wheat free WIAW and that means I have also made it over a week without wheat and you know what?  I don’t even miss it!!

Thanks so much Jenn for hosting 🙂

Breakfast: Before hopping on the bike to head into work I devoured half of a perfectly ripe grapefruit.  For some reason I usually only have them hanging around on weekends, I think that this will have to 1

Once I peddled my little legs to work I checked emails did some work and then dived into coffee and overnight oats with apple and PB on top.  That mug is my new favourite 🙂

After my usual work through the morning I broke for snack one of a banana, not pictured but I am sure you know what the look like 😉

Real Snack 1 I was getting pretty hungry and had a lunchtime workout planned so I put together a yogurt/ricotta bowl with blueberries, strawberries, and granola.  I also had a hot cup of tea.  I am pretty sure I munched my way through a couple of Merry’s crackers and some almonds as 3

My workout consisted of 20min on the treadmill all while trying in vain to get my netfix to work.  Unfortunately the internet just didn’t want to cooperate.  After my warm up I completed the 30min Be Explosive NTC  workout.  It kicked my butt and my arms felt slightly broken.

By the time I got back to work I was getting Hangry.

Lunch: A massive salad filled with nuts, cheese, humus, and avocado.  It actually filled me up for about a minute before I went back for some more crackers and humus.

Work, work, work,..

Snack 2 Apple, more crackers and humus (they are too good), and a couple jube jubes.  I know you know what an apple looks like but here it is anyway 🙂

I left work and met John so that we could peddle home together into the sunset…. ya, movie material right there.

By the time we got home I was ready to eat anything that got in my way.

Dinner: A stir fry filled with veggies and shrimp over rice noodles.  I already know that I will be snacking tonight and may have already had a rice cake topped with PB.

After dinner I quickly headed to the library to pick up The Wheat Belly Cookbook.  I am exited to see what it has in store.  On the way home Bruno Mars came on the radio and I almost drove off the road in my panic to change the station.  Bruno, you almost killed me!

Have a great night everyone and I hope the rest of the week is a good one!

1) Is there any music artist you can’t stand?

2) Do you have a favourite plate/bowl/mug etc?

Dear Friday… I Love You

Happy Friday!!!friday_happy_dance5Amen Snoopy… Amen!

First on the blog to do list is a quick Thursday recap.  It was an early morning wake up so I could head to the gym before work.  I haven’t gotten in an early morning workout for a week or so and it was great to get back at it.  I completed 20min on the elliptical, where I caught up on the morning news, and then moved on to completing a workout from Tina’s Best Body Boot Camp.  I joined her boot camp this past summer and loved it.  It great to have all the workouts to keep as a resource and I hope to join the next round when sign up begins!  I mean for the price you can’t lose.

Work was really steady today an lunch rolled around before I knew it! I decided to take a quick trip to the mall at lunch to do a little Christmas shopping.  This is almost a first for me, I am usually the one running around last minute trying to find gifts.  By the time I got back to my desk I was starving, but made sure the hunger was pacified quickly…photo 1

A toasted tuna sandwich, veggies and a couple chips with hummus.  I ran out of wraps so had to switch over to bread, I know new worthy right?  After this I needed something crispy and sweet so I grabbed a juicy apple.

The work afternoon went by almost as fast as the morning and before I knew it it was time to go home and begin packing again.  Although I was in a rush to get home I had to snap a picture of the sky that afternoon.  It was the most amazing mix of pinks, purples, and oranges; too bad the photo really doesn’t capture the colours 😦photo 2

Packing went well last night and now we only have the kitchen and a few things here and there to pack up.  I officially had my last walk into work and we had our last home cooked dinner in our apartment last night too.  Now it’s just one more sleep until the big move 😀  I don’t think I could be anymore excited!

Why have I never thought of putting diced apple into my cinnamon puffins????????  That would be so good!  I really need to pay more attention to the box my food is coming out of, their ideas can be golden!

I wish I had some more interesting thing going on other than moving to share with you, but oh well, hopefully next week!

Have a great Friday!  I plan to pop in sometime on Saturday at least with a picture or two, but we will see how busy things get.  So until then…

1) Do you have a favourite cereal?  What is it? How do you eat it (with milk, yogurt, mix ins…)?

2) When you have a big even coming up do you start counting things down such as one more dinner, one more sleep…

3) Have you ever joined a boot camp?  If so which one?

A VERY Full Wednesday and 2 Rare Selfies

T.I.R.E.D that was the name of the game last night.  Man, the “like” of moving is starting to diminish already.  I know, I know… first I want winter and then it’s too cold and then I like moving which quickly turns into GAH how are we going to get this done by the weekend!?  We got our first load of boxes over to the house yesterday evening so our apartment is looking wonderfully sparse at the moment.

Wednesday was a very productive day both in the work sense and personal sense.  It started out with a busy work morning followed by the fist Christmas lunch of the season; a massive steak feast with all the trimmings !  And what is one to do after a good feeding and a glass of wine?  Why take a random selfie of course! photo 1ya… I took about 10 before I got one where I looked kind of normal 🙂  Don’t worry co-workers who read this, I got right back to work for the rest of the afternoon.  A review of the restaurant we went to for lunch will be done on the weekend.

After work I hit up the gym for a liiiiitle bit of procrastination sweat before getting my packing groove onphoto 2Nothing to crazy there, just a light 5km run.

By the time I got home I had just enough time to whip up a scrambled egg and veggie dinner before cramming more stuff into boxes.  And then I just wanted to put my feet up with a nice cup of tea and a little bit of mindless TV to just take the edge off a little, because this is how I was feeling after a very full day…photo 4And 2 selfies in one post!  That’s a record people (I am not a sefie picture taker I guess)!

I hope everyone had a great Wednesday and is enjoying the beginnings of their Thursday.  One more day until Friday!

Oh and a random fact, John has sneezed about 10 times since we’ve started packing.  I think it became just a little dusty over the last few weeks.

P.S. it was only -7 this morning and wow did that feel wonderfully warm!

1) Do you prefer a big lunch and a light supper or vice versa?  I think I am a big dinner and “lighter” lunch person, just as long as a big dinner isn’t too late

2) How do you unwind after a long/busy day? I love a cup of tea, PJ’s, and some TV or a book

3) What was the temperature when you woke up?

Better Late Than Never!

AHHH friends technical difficulties (i.e. I didn’t push publish).  This was supposed to be up yesterday!

Well look at us finishing up a Tuesday afternoon!  Did it seem to go by fairly quickly for anyone else?

My day started off around 2:30 am with a work phone call but I was able to drift back to sleep until 6:30 am and then it was work go time for realz….  Needless to say many coffees were consumed today.  Oh well almost done at the office today and then it is on to a Body Attack class with my friendle this evening.

I really wanted to share this because it’s something I haven’t done in quite some time…

10km 5km

I persevered through 15km or running on the treadmill.  I really thought that I would feel it today but I am actually not that bad at all, I will put it down to all the stretching I did afterwards and the crazy amount of food I consumed post run 😀

The rest of yesterday was spent finishing up my book (don’t let me forget to take it back to the Library tomorrow!) and taking a stroll in the sun with John.  We spent the majority of the walk day dreaming about moving into our new house which we get possession of in 1 WEEK EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEK!!!  Only a little bit excited 🙂

Again, the time change through me off a little yesterday and I started to cook dinner around 4:30 because the lighting was signalling me it was time… either that or just my ravenous appetite!  On the menu was home made chicken and vegetable soup.  mmm soupI made the chicken stock out of the bones of the chicken John cooked on Sunday night.  To the stock I added basically all the veggies in our fridge: carrots, parsnip, kale, corn, celery, onion, mushrooms, tomatoes, and pepper.  Once that had cooked for a good 1.5hours I added some left over brown rice and served the soup with some parmesan cheese on top.  Mmm Mmm Good, but better than Campbell’s 😉

Evidently making a massive pot of soup wasn’t enough kitchen time last night… as I whipped up some chocolate chip cookies AND some apple sauce muffins!  Let’s just say I did not go hungry at work today.

I hope everyone else had a great long weekend and a wonderful start to the work week!

1) What is your favourite soup?

2) Is anyone else on call during the night (yes new parents you definitely count!)

3) Are you a cake or cookies person?
