MIMM 3/03/2014

OOOOOOO it’s the third day of the third month!  To think that if I was actually on the ball and got this post (I just wrote pot haha… small things amuse small minds) up earlier I wouldn’t have noticed that 😀  There’s method to the madness.

How was everyone’s weekend?  Get up to anything much?  Mine was okay for not being able to get outside much.  Got some errands run on Saturday morning, met up with friends Saturday afternoon, and then headed to my parents for dinner Saturday night.  On Sunday I managed to hit the gym for some running, biking, and 8 minute abs.  This was followed by some cleaning, dinner prep (slow cooker chicken and barley stew) which was so fast thanks to Iowa Girl Eats, and making some mall returns.

So I thought it would be fun to participate in MIMM by finding marvellous solutions to problems.  Thanks to Katie, as always, for hosting this link up!

Hot tea in my new mug from Market Collective!

Yup… I solved all of my problems with food 😀 and I think that is just marvellous!

One of my last thoughts of the day

1) did you have any problems that you solved this weekend?

2) What was the best thing you did this weekend?

A Quick Tuesday Post

Well hello there!  I am happy to report my grumpies really dissipated on Monday, thank goodness.  But I think I can contribute the start of a cold to make me so disgruntled.  I can’t believe I am sick again, I just got over a cold after new years.  Hopefully this one won’t be too bad.  Thanks for all of your kind words yesterday, they really helped me to cheer up.

I don’t have too much to report today.  But we did sleep in until 6:30 am yesterday and took the train to work as the temperatures have gotten really cold and the snow has started to fall once again.  Work went fairly well and I was able to get in a light spin workout at lunch.  I am hoping that getting some sweat going helped to kill some of the germs.  I am pretty sure I will be taking a rest day today and maybe tomorrow.

John made a great dinner last night of bbq’d hamburgers, sweet potato and salad.  And I am really excited because we have this in our freezer right now 😀photo (3)  So rich, So good.  I think this can cure any illness!

Well I am off to go and curl up on the couch with tea and some TV (as I am writing this Monday night).

Have a great day everyone!

1) What ice cream do you have in your freezer?

2) Do you try to exercise when you feel a cold coming on?

Another Cold One and That Girl Needs Therapy

Hhahaha Love this!  I also love being able to wear jeans on Friday’s especially today!  I think if it’s below -20 all dress code should go out the window and bring on the comfy cozies! Forecast for today partly cloudy with a 60% chance of dying of exposure.  -25 for a high today with a windchill of -40 mmmmmmm nice…….

Sorry for the blurriness.  I think it’s because if I can’t really see it, it isn’t real.

Well yesterday I decided to take a trip to the physiotherapist.  I hadn’t mentioned anything about injuries on here but I was having some pain in the glute and IT band areas which I was putting down to running.  It turns out that I have really really really tight adductor muscles that is pulling everything out of alignment.  My right foot is actually twisting outwards because of it and I really can’t find good balance on that leg.  The plan for now is to stretch and foam roll and then go back for another visit for some intense massaging and needling.  Needing sounds terrifying but it sounds more like giving the muscle a good poke.  Has anyone else had needling done?

Well the therapist didn’t mention anything about not running so I think I shall continue with that 😉  And the running really hasn’t been bothering it too much since I went for my massage last friday.  I hope to be able to get some running or something in today at lunch.

I just want to give a BIG HAPPY BIRTHDAY to one of my lovely friends!  Her birthday was actually yesterday (well today because I am writing this post Thursday night)!  I can’t wait to celebrate with you today!!!???????????????????????????????????????

1) Have you ever been to a physiotherapist for an injury?

2) What is the worst exercise/training injury you’ve had?

3) What are your plans for friday night?

WIAW #5 and Let The Packing Commence

Well hello again lovely’s and welcome to the official hump day of the week!  In Alberta we really didn’t have a hump day last week so today might be a little harder to get through.  Can we just talk about the weather we had here yesterday and this morning?  I have a four letter word for you COLD… holy mid January weather!  Today felt like -20 all day with the wind chill, oh and not to mention a nice little snow storm in the middle of the day :S  But the good news is that this weekend is supposed to be + double digits WHOOP!  Finally a weekend without a snowfall warning and I might actually get to have my first run outside in a looooooong time!

Sorry for that little rant! Now onto what you’ve been waiting for all week I’m sure….. another instalment of WIAW courtesy of Jenn! wiaw fall into good habits button

BREAKFAST… was my standby over night oats topped with raspberries, a lone blackberry 😦 , banana, and almond milk.  Coffee #1 on the side image

yup.. looks just like yesterdays breakfast 🙂  hey if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it

SNACK… The rest of my banana and another coffee.  image_2 image_1

I was still hungry after that so I ate an un-pictured homemade pumpkin muffin.  It was only missing a smearing of peanut butter.

LUNCH… by the time lunch rolled around I was HUNGRY!  So I was more than ready to whip up my (again another standby) tuna wrap, veggies with hummus, and an appleimage_4 image_5

and then SNACK 2 HAPPENED…image_3 image_6

MMM Annie’s cheddar bunnies and a square of Lindt dark chocolate

Followed by my pre gym snack of greek yogurt, some more raspberries, and oatsimage_7Wait! what? oh no! it escaped before I could take a photo 😉

After a nice gym session, after work, I came home to make a big pot of chilli for DINNER… image_8

This I served up with some fluffy Quinoa and a side salad.  It really hit the spot on a cold day.  I have to remember to post the recipe because this was GOOD!

For dessert I had a nice bunch of grapes and a handful of cereal.

Well time to get back to packing… yup this is really what our front room looks like.  And yes, those are the frog boxes!frog boxWish us luck!

1) If you go to the gym in the afternoon do you have a snack before you go?  I know I need to eat a good half hour before an afternoon workout, otherwise I get too tired

2) Packing, do you love of loath it?  I am kinda in the like packing category.  It feels really good to purge the unwanted/needed stuff and give the things you like a good clean.
